Pedestrian-Involved Accidents in Alexandria Due to the environmental benefits and advantages to personal health, greater numbers of people are choosing to walk to get to where they are going as often as they can. Even though it should be a far safer option when compared to driving or even riding a bike, recent studies have sadly proven otherwise. The National Highway Traffic Safety Association reported that in 2013 14 percent of all transportation fatalities were pedestrian-involved accidents. Whether or not this uptick in pedestrian-involved deaths is connected to the increase in the decision to get about on foot or connected to drivers’ ubiquitous thoughtlessness of those on foot is difficult to say.
