Another Williams Explosion in South Louisiana

Williams Partners, LP, a large petrochemical company with facilities throughout the country, has suffered yet another explosion at one of their plants.  This time, the explosion was at the plant of Williams’ subsidiary, Transcontinental Gas Pipeline Company, in Gibson, LA at the 4700 block of Bayou Black Drive.  The gas pipeline explosion occurred at 11 a.m. on October 8th and some news outlets are already reporting that 4 workers have died as a result of the explosion, with another 2 injured.

Williams explosion and safety problems and issues are all too familiar for residents of South Louisiana.  On June 13, 2013, a Williams explosion occurred at a plant in Geismar, LA where two workers died and more than 80 reported injuries.  Thankfully, this was a smaller facility with less employees, keeping the number of injured reduced.  Additionally, over the past 18 months, Williams plants have suffered three other explosions and fires: March 31, 2014 in Plymouth Washington where one worker was injured in a gas plant explosion and fire; April 5, 2014 in Marshall County, West Virginia where there was a pipeline fire; and April 23, 2014 in Opal Washington where there was another pipeline explosion and fire.

Williams has clearly done very little to curb the lack of safety in their plants, as these explosions, fires, and mishaps continue to happen and threaten the safety and wellbeing of our fellow residents of South Louisiana.  The attorneys at Fisher Injury Lawyers have been helping injured workers and residents of Louisiana for over 25 years and have particular knowledge and experience in the areas of safety and explosions.  Attorney-Engineer Chris J. Day graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from LSU.  During that time, he worked in multiple chemical plants throughout the United States and became familiar with the safety precautions that should take place when dangerous chemicals are being used.  This puts him in a unique position to discuss the factors that are causing these Williams explosions that few other personal injury attorneys possess.  Give Chris or one of the other attorneys at Fisher Injury Lawyers a call today if you or someone you know has been hurt due to the negligence of others.
