Baton Rouge, LA – Man Arrested For Causing Fatal Wreck On Siegen Ln & Perkins Rd

Baton Rouge, LA (July 23, 2019) – Louisiana State Police were investigating a fatal car accident in the late evening around 10:00 p.m. on Monday, July 22nd. The collision took place at the intersection of Siegen Lane and Perkins Road in East Baton Rouge Parish. The accident took the life of a 54-year-old woman from Greenwell Springs. 

The deceased was identified as Stephanie Payne. Payne was stopped in a 2013 Nissan Rogue at the intersection of Siegen and Perkins. 

At the same time, 18-year-old Jack Jordan was traveling north on Siegen in a 2010 Toyota Tundra, and he struck Payne’s vehicle while going 90 mph. The Nissan erupted into flames on impact, causing Payne to sustain fatal injuries. 

Jordan reportedly admitted to authorities that he caused the accident. He was taken to a medical facility for treatment of sustained injuries and later attempted to escape after being taken into custody. 

Jordan was charged with second-degree murder, reckless operation, and simple escape and later taken to EBR Parish station. 

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation.
