Crowley, LA (July 30, 2019) – Louisiana State Police were on the scene of a fatal collision on Monday, July 29th, around 5:30 a.m. The wreck took place in Acadia Parish on LA Hwy 100, east of McCain Road.

The crash took the life of 55-year-old Norges Ortizo, of Houston, Texas. Initial reports indicate that Ortiz was driving a 2012 Nissan Versa westbound on LA-100. For some reason, Ortiz crossed the center-line into oncoming eastbound traffic, hitting a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado.

The driver of the Silverado was restrained and sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

It is unknown if impairment was a factor in the accident.

The crash is under investigation.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Norges Ortiz at this time. Our thoughts are with the injured victim and their family in hopes of a full recovery.
