Deadly Motorcycle Crash in Algiers

A deadly motorcycle crash occurred in Louisiana this afternoon in Algiers.  According to police, the driver of a 2003 Buell motorcycle was traveling westbound on General DeGaulle when he struck a 2010 Nissan Altima that was attempting to cross DeGaulle.  The incident occurred at 1:30 p.m.  Sadly, the motorcycle driver succumbed to his injuries at the hospital and the driver of the Altima also sustained serious injuries, but was taken to the hospital and is said to be stable.  The name of the victim has not yet been released.  While no citations have been issued yet, the investigation is ongoing.

As mentioned, the investigation has yet to be concluded and the cause of the accident is undetermined at this time.  There is evidence to suggest that the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and did not apply his brakes before impact.  This is a tragic incident that has resulted in the loss of life, but equally tragic is that the driver of the Altima was seriously injured.  We extend our deepest condolences to the family and wish her a full and speedy recovery.
