June 17, 2019 Grant Parish, LA – 1 Killed and 5 Injured on LA-471 at French Cemetery Rd Grant Parish, LA (June 16, 2019) – Louisiana State Police have reported a fatal wreck that happened on Saturday, June 15th. The incident took place on LA-471 near the intersection with French Cemetery Rd. at approximately 2:30 p.m. One man, 36-year-old Rufus Green, was pronounced dead at the scene by officials. Green was a passenger, along with four others, in a pickup truck being driven by a 17-year-old motorist. The driver was the only occupant wearing a seatbelt. After losing control of the vehicle, the driver overcorrected, causing them to lose control of the vehicle. All vehicle occupants were taken to Rapides Regional Trauma Center for medical treatment by officials on the scene after the crash. The driver was issued a citation for careless operation and not having a valid driver’s license. The crash is still under investigation, and toxicology test are currently pending.
