LaSalle Parish, LA – Unrestrained Toddler & 2 Adults Killed After Wreck On LA-125

LaSalle Parish, LA (July 30, 2019) – Early in the day on Monday, July 29th, there was a deadly two-vehicle crash that killed a toddler and two adults in LaSalle Parish. Authorities reported to the scene of the accident on LA-125 south of Olla at 11:25 a.m.

Initial reports found that the child was not secured in a car seat and the two adults were also unrestrained at the time of the crash.

The wreck involved a 2006 Kenworth semi-truck driven by 33-year-old Joseph Pardue of Georgetown, Louisiana, and a 2014 Ford Fiesta driven by a 17-year-old woman from Olla.

The Ford was traveling south on LA Hwy 125 when the Kenworth struck the vehicle as it was slowing down to attempt a turn. On impact, the Ford overturned and struck a tree. The three passengers of the Ford were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. These deceased were identified as 45-year-old Vicki Sears, 24-year-old Brittney Martin, and a 3-year-old.

Pardue was restrained but was still injured in the crash. He was taken to Hardtner Medical Center for treatment. The unrestrained driver sustained injuries and was taken to Rapides Regional Trauma Center.

Toxicology tests are currently pending, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the families of Vicki Sears and Brittney Martin at this time.  Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families in hopes of a full recovery.

Louisiana State 18-Wheeler Accidents

LaSalle Parish, LA - Unrestrained Toddler & 2 Adults Killed After Wreck On LA-125Large commercial vehicles are 20 to 30 times the size of a regular passenger car.

This makes 18-wheelers extremely dangerous when they are involved in collisions, and these vehicles take 20-40% longer to come to a stop on the road, making their drivers less able to react to hazards on the roadway.

Victims who are injured in a crash with an 18-wheeler will take on expensive damages after an accident.
