Livingston Parish, LA – Man Killed In Head-On Motorcycle Crash At LA-449 & LA-1024

Livingston Parish, LA (August 18, 2019) – The Louisiana State Police was at the scene of a deadly crash around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 17. The incident involved a motorcycle and another vehicle that collided at the intersection of LA-449 and LA-1024 in Livingston Parish. The deceased motorcyclist has been identified by local authorities as 55-year-old James Evans of Walker.

Initial reports showed that Evans was traveling in a 2018 Harley Davidson Deluxe westbound on LA Hwy 1024, while a 2004 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling eastbound on the highway. For unknown reasons, Evans’ Harley Davidson drifted across the centerline into the opposite lane of traffic, resulting in the head-on collision with the Tahoe. Evans was reportedly wearing a helmet at the time of the crash but sustained critical injuries. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.

It is not believed that intoxication was a factor in the accident. The wreck is currently being investigated by LSP.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim James Evans at this time.

Louisiana Deadly Motorcycle Accidents

Livingston Parish, LA - Man Killed In Head-On Motorcycle Crash At LA-449 & LA-1024Motorcycles are a liberating way to get from place to place, making them a go-to vehicle for many people throughout Louisiana. However, motorcycle crashes can be extremely dangerous, and accidents often result in the death of the rider. In 2017, there were 1,854 motorcycle accidents reported in the state, which is likely much less than the actual number of motorcycle accidents in Louisiana.

These accidents can be the result of many factors, such as poor vehicle maintenance, blind spots of other vehicles, or sudden-stops on the roadway. Motorcyclists have little safety protections, even when wearing a helmet. 40 percent of all motorcycle fatalities involved riders wearing helmets at the time of impact.
