With another wave of wet, freezing weather expected in south Louisiana, East Baton Rouge Parish and other school districts are planning to close for at least one day as will area colleges and universities including LSU, Southern, Southeastern, and University of La.- Lafayette:

LOCAL AREA SCHOOL CLOSINGS

• East Baton Rouge Parish has canceled school for Tuesday and will make a decision about Wednesday classes on Tuesday.

• The Catholic Diocese of Baton Rouge announced closure of its schools in Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Pointe Coupee, Assumption, Central, Iberville and West Baton Rouge for Tuesday and Wednesday, and in St. James for Tuesday through Thursday.

• The Recovery School District will close for Tuesday its seven schools in East Baton Rouge. Tuesday and Wednesday its school in Pointe Coupee and its school in St. Helena will be closed..

• The Kenilworth Science & Technology Charter a School will be closed on Tuesday.

• Acadia, Assumption, Baker, Central, East Feliciana, Evangeline, Iberville, Iberia, Lafayette, Livingston, Pointe Coupee, St. Landry, St. Martin, St. Mary, Tangipahoa, West Baton Rouge, West Feliciana and Zachary schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

• Ascension Parish and Iberville Parish schools will be closed Tuesday.

• St. James Parish schools will be closed Tuesday through Thursday.

• St. Helena schools will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

• Diocese of Lafayette schools closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

• LaPrintaniere Montessori School in Baton Rouge will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

• The Dunham School will be closed Tuesday.

• Career Academy public charter high school will close Tuesday. An announcement will be made on Wednesday with further information.

• The Baton Rouge Mid City Charter Academy is closed Tuesday.

• The Slaughter Community Charter School in East Feliciana Parish will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

• LSU will be closed Tuesday, including cancelation of classes and events, except for athletic events, which are not included in the cancelations, at this time.

• Baton Rouge Community College campuses and sites will be closed on Tuesday.

• McNeese State University will be closed on Tuesday and Wednesday, but Monday’s night classes will go on as scheduled.

• South Louisiana Community College has announced a closure of its campuses on Tuesday. College officials will make a decision by 3 p.m. Tuesday about any potential closure for Wednesday.

• Southern University, Baton Rouge will be closed Tuesday affecting all students, faculty and staff.

• Southern University at New Orleans has canceled all classes for Tuesday on the Eastbank and Westbank campuses.

• River Parishes Community College will be closed Tuesday.

• University of Louisiana-Lafayette will be closed Tuesday. Essential university personnel should contact supervisors for further instructions. Further closure notifications will be made on Tuesday afternoon. Monitor the school website for further information.

OTHER LOCAL AREA CLOSINGS

• East Baton Rouge Parish City-Parish offices will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Essential personnel are responsible for coordinating with their supervisors and reporting for duty if required as outlined in their Continuity of Operations Plans.

• East Baton Rouge Parish garbage pickup, recycling is suspended Tuesday and Wednesday.

• Baton Rouge City Court will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

• All Port Allen city offices, including City Hall, will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

• West Baton Rouge parish courthouse will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

MORE LOCAL AREA CLOSINGS

• The Central School Board is postponing a meeting scheduled for Tuesday at 3 p.m. to Thursday at 3 p.m. due to the expected bad weather. It will take place at the Central School Board Office, 10510 Joor Road.

• The Capital Region Planning Commission has canceled Monday’s Commission meeting at the River Center and its joint Transportation Policy Committee/Transportation Technical Advisory Committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday at BREC Headquarters on Florida Blvd. and its offices will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

• Plaquemine has canceled the Special Meeting scheduled for Tuesday.

• St. Mary Parish courthouse will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday with court suspended for those two days.

• The Pointe Coupee Electric Annual Meeting scheduled for Wednesday, January 29 has been canceled due to the wintry weather. The meeting will be rescheduled at a later date.

• Tuesday night’s Zachary City Council meeting has been postponed until 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Zachary City Hall, 4700 Main St.

• Criminal court in Clinton for Tuesday has been canceled and reset for Feb. 11., 20th Judicial District Attorney Sam D’Aquilla said.

• Livingston Parish government offices will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Parish President Layton Ricks said essential employees should still report to work.

• The Livingston Parish Charter Review Commission meeting scheduled for Tuesday has been canceled. The commission’s next regularly scheduled meeting is at 5:30 p.m., Feb. 4.

• The Tangipahoa Parish courthouse, all parish offices and the regional landfill will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday. All essential employees should report to work in accordance with the parish’s emergency response plan. A decision regarding re-opening Thursday will be made later in the week.

• Tangipahoa Parish School Board Tuesday meeting has been canceled, and rescheduled for Feb. 11 at 6 p.m.

• The Hammond Chamber of Commerce office will be closed Tuesday and will re-open Wednesday at noon, weather permitting. The Hammond Chamber’s Membership 101 meeting has been rescheduled to 9 a.m., Jan. 31.

• North Oaks Health system has canceled Tuesday and Wednesday elective services, including elective surgeries, procedures, outpatient diagnostic, rehabilitation appointments. These cancelations also include therapy and support group appointments and meetings.

• A meeting to launch a campaign against the efforts to create a new city called St. George has been rescheduled due to inclement weather. The Better Together assembly will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Feb 4 at St. George Catholic Church on St. George Drive. Attendees can RSVP online at www.bettertogetherbr.org and request yard signs.

• All East Baton Rouge Parish Library system will close Tuesday and Wednesday.

• U.S. District Court will close Tuesday.

• The Ascension Parish School Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday also has been canceled.

• Ascension Parish Library board Wednesday meeting has been moved to Wednesday, Feb. 5 at 6 p.m., at the Dutchtown location.

• St. Gabriel City Hall, Senior Center and Community Center will close Tuesday and Wednesday.

• The Baton Rouge Legislative Issues Conference, presented with the Baton Rouge Area Chamber of Commerce, has been rescheduled to 11:30 a.m. Friday at LABI’s Conference Center, 3113 Valley Creek Drive.

• Slaughter Community Charter School Board Meeting for Tuesday has been canceled.

• The Pointe Coupee Parish Police Jury meeting for Tuesday has been moved to 5 p.m. Thursday.

• The Amite Chamber of Commerce office will close Tuesday and Wednesday.

• The 19th Judicial District Court will be closed Tuesday and possibly Wednesday.

• Ascension Parish governmental offices will be closed Tuesday, except for essential departments and personnel. Wednesday’s office hours will be decided on Tuesday afternoon.

• Capital Area CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) Association has canceled its pre-service training session originally set for Tuesday. Information about rescheduling will be provided to current trainees at the next session on Thursday. The CASA office will also be closed on Tuesday.

• Pennington Biomedical Research Center, will close Tuesday. Only designated "essential" personnel are required to be at the Center to attend to critical systems. Plans to reopen the center will be made on Wednesday. http://crisis.pbrc.edu.

• People's Health offices, Service Center and Primary Care Plus Clinics will close Tuesday and reopen noon on Wednesday.

• Family Court of East Baton Rouge parish will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday.

• St. Helena Parish Police Jury regular Tuesday meeting is canceled.

• Pelican Chapter ABC Training is canceled Tuesday.

• Plaquemine city offices will close Tuesday and Wednesday, although the city's public works and water crews will work through the winter storm.

• East Feliciana garbage pickup has been canceled for Tuesday and Wednesday. Pickup will resume next week. The East Feliciana Parish Planning and Zoning Commission regular monthly meeting on Tuesday is canceled and will be rescheduled.
