Motorist Assistance Patrol Worker Killed in Accident on I-10 Bridge

A MAP employee was killed early Monday morning while cleaning debris off the middle lane of the I-10 bridge.  MAP, or Motorist Assistance Patrol, is contracted by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development to assists motorists and improve traffic flow and congestion.  Many times they are called to clear debris from the road to protect drivers from unfortunate accidents exactly like this one.

In this situation, the employee had stopped his Ford F250 in the middle lane of the bridge and clearly indicated that he was stopped by using his emergency flashers and other safety measures.  Unfortunately, an 18-wheeler did not see him and rear-ended his truck, causing the F250 to slam into the employee.
