One Dead In Lousiana Car Crash

A Crowley man is dead, and another driver injured following a car crash on LA Highway 342 near Brumley Road.

Yesterday evening, shortly after 6:00 pm, 33-year-old Joshua Ware of Lafayette was driving a 2012 Ford F350 truck east on LA 342 and struck the rear of a 2001 Chevrolet Corvette operated by 49-year-old Phillip Meaux of Crowley.  After impact, the Corvette was pushed forward and struck a 2009 Nissan Altima, being driven by 37 year old Jessica Peltier of Lafayette. The Ford F350 continued to move forward and traveled over the Corvette and onto the roof of the Nissan Altima. The Ford F350 rolled onto its left side, slid forward, and struck a 2004 Ford Focus operated by 17 year old Madison Dugas of Duson.

Troopers determined the Ford Focus, Nissan Altima and Chevrolet Corvette were slowing down due to a vehicle making a left turn at the intersection of LA Highway 342 and Brumley Road.

All drivers in the car crash were wearing their seat belts.  However; Phillip Meaux sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on scene by the Lafayette Parish Coroner’s Office. Jessica Peltier sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the  ar crash. The drivers involved in the car crash were tested and showed no impairment. Routine toxicology samples were taken from Meaux and sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis.

Joshua Ware was cited for following too close.

This crash remains under investigation.

Troopers would like to remind drivers to be aware of all traffic while operating a motor vehicle. Distractions continue to play a major part in fatal and injury crashes throughout our state.

The details of this car crash remain under investigation but the reference to distraction may indicate a suspicion that texting or other cell phone use is a factor.  Federal traffic data clearly indicates the risks associated with distracted driving particularly driving while texting.  At Fisher Injury Lawyers we see the tragic consequences of distracted driving and fight daily to restore the victims of these accidents to a normal life.    Our team leaves no stone unturned in the search for evidence and is relentless in our pursuit of justice for our clients.  If hired on this accident, our attorneys/engineers would conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the accident scene and vehicles. We would immediately secure cell phone records for all drivers and passengers involved in the accident.   We have the experience to know that heavy duty trucks, such as the Ford F-350, are often used for business purposes so would track the ownership and use of the vehicle in a search for all potentially responsible parties.   This is what we do; bring our substantial resources to each and every case in order to determine responsibility and maximize the recovery of our client.  Call us anytime.
