Prairieville, LA – 8-Year-Old Killed In Crash On US-61 At Germany Rd

Prairieville, LA (July 13, 2019) – Louisiana State Police began investigating a crash around 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 12th. The crash on US Highway 61 at the Germany Rd intersection took the life of an 8-year-old native of Baton Rouge.

Initial reports indicate that 32-year-old Averial Crenshaw was traveling south on US-61 in a 2014 Toyota Camry. The 8-year-old deceased victim was the passenger in the Camry.

A 2005 Ford F-150 was traveling north on the highway when Crenshaw attempted to make a left turn and ventured into the path of the oncoming vehicle. This resulted in the F-150 striking the passenger side of the Toyota. The 8-year-old passenger was ejected on impact.

The child was taken to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Crenshaw sustained serious injuries in the crash and was hospitalized following the accident.

It is unknown if the child was restrained at the time of the crash due to the extent of the vehicle damage.
