Watson, LA – Pedestrian Killed in Semi-Wreck at LA-16 and Weiss Rd

Watson, LA (June 8, 2019) – Louisiana State Police have reported a fatal pedestrian accident that happened at the intersection of LA-16 and Weiss Rd. The incident happened on Friday, June 7th.

Police officials were notified of the scene in the early morning at 4 a.m.

The wreck took the life of Ronald Ridgewell, 47-years-old.

Ridgewell had placed in bicycle on the shoulder of the highway, walking into the northbound lane. Then, 64-year-old Charles Barns Jr. struck the man as he entered the roadway. Barns was driving a 2012 Mack truck.

Ridgewell’s injuries were fatal, and he pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Barn’s showed no signs of intoxication at the time of the crash.

The case is still under investigation.
