Winnsboro, LA – Man on Lawnmower Killed in Rear-End Wreck on US-425

Winnsboro, LA (September 10, 2019) – An 87-year-old man from Winnsboro was killed after being struck by a pickup truck. The accident took place on US Highway 425 just south of Winnsboro, Louisiana. Louisiana State Police responded to the scene of the crash around 6:40 a.m., on Tuesday, September 10. 

Elmer Jennings was reportedly slowly driving a zero-turn-style lawnmower on US-425 SB. Jennings was struck by a 2012 Ford F-250 driven by Dusty Jones, 25, also from Winnsboro. Jones hit Jennings from behind, causing the rider of the lawnmower to sustain fatal injuries. 

Jennings was pronounced dead at the scene by Franklin Parish Coroner’s Office.

Local authorities are still investigating the cause of the collision.
