Louisiana has consistently ranked as one of the most dangerous states for pedestrian collisions. 1,047 pedestrians were killed between 2008 to 2017, after being struck by a motor vehicle. Across the U.S., the fatality rate of pedestrians has increased by nearly 35% in recent years.
Pedestrians are extremely vulnerable in collisions with motor vehicles. There are few protections offered to those who choose to walk, and these accidents only take a few seconds to result in extreme harm. Pedestrians are likely to sustain permanent bodily injuries after an accident.
