Shreveport, LA (September 16, 2019) – Two women sustained fatal injuries in a head-on collision in Shreveport, Louisiana on Saturday night, September 14. Local sources reported that the accident happened at the intersection of Youree Drive and Carroll Street just before 9:00 p.m. Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office recently identified the deceased victims as Latonya M. Sibley, 52, and Kourtnie G. Richardson, 31.
Sibley was traveling south in a 2010 Volvo when she crossed the centerline of the roadway, striking Richardson’s northbound Honda Accord head-on. Richardson was pronounced dead at the scene. Sibley was transported to Ochsner LSU Health Center where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Routine toxicology tests are still pending.
The investigation into the accident is being conducted by LSP.
We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the families of Latonya M. Sibley and Kourtnie G. Richardson at this time.
When a driver drifts across the centerline, they are likely distracted and not paying proper attention to the road. Distractions are more prevalent than ever, with a majority of drivers admitting to texting and driving while behind the wheel. These poor decisions have the potential to take the life of another person.
