Takata Airbags Recall Continues to Expand

The recall affecting multiple different car manufacturers and models continues to expand, as Nissan has added more makes and models to its list of recalled cars.  The recall now includes vehicles from the following car companies: Acura, BMW, Chrysler, Dodge/Ram, Ford, Honda, Infiniti, Lexus, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Pontiac, Saab, Subaru, and Toyota.  See below for a full list of vehicles in the recall.

This recall affects passenger air bags manufactured by the Japanese company Takata.  The airbags subject to the recall have a defect that could cause them to explode with too much force and spray metal shrapnel at occupants.  This is obviously an incredibly serious and crucial defect, as airbags already deploy at an extremely high speed, and are designed to provide safety for the driver and passengers.  The recall is especially critical for those residents of Louisiana, Texas, and Mississippi, as the airbags are said to malfunction in areas of high humidity.  The Nissan recall now affects 52,738 vehicles with 11 million total vehicles in the United States and 17 million globally being recalled for the defective Takata airbags.

While the total numbers of injuries caused by this defect are unknown, at least four deaths and dozens of injuries have already been reportedly linked to the problem.  If you or someone you know has been injured in anyway by a Takata airbag, call the experienced attorneys at Fisher Injury Lawyers.  Attorney Chris J. Day graduated in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana State University and has extensive knowledge and experience in defect cases such as this one.  Additionally, if you have any of the vehicles in the following list, contact your car dealer as soon as possible to get your airbag replaced.
