The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration claims that rear-end crashes are one of the most common types of traffic accidents in the United States. Rear-end accidents account for nearly 29% of all collisions across the country each year. It is revealing that 90% of rear-end crashes are the result of distracted drivers.
A majority of rear-end crashes take place when the vehicle in front is stopped or traveling slowly. In most cases, the driver in the rear was following too close. Most of the time, rear-end crashes happen during the day on long and straight stretches of road.
