Bobtown, LA – Teenager Killed In DUI Collision At Grand Caillou Rd & Cane Break Ave

Bobtown, LA (August 4, 2019) – Early in the morning of Sunday, August 4th, in Bobtown, Louisiana, Louisiana State Police were notified of a fatal accident. The crash happened just before 1:00 a.m. at the intersection of Grand Caillou Rd., also known as LA-57, and Cane Break Ave.

The crash took the life of 16-year-old Houma resident Makayla Gregoire.

Initial reports show that 35-year-old Reva Hood, also of Houma, was driving with Gregoire as a passenger, southbound on Grand Caillou Rd. in a 2004 GMC Yukon. For unknown reasons, Hood ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree. Hood was unrestrained and uninjured in the accident.

Terrebonne Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced her dead at the scene.

It is believed that Hood was intoxicated at the time of the collision, and she was arrested at the scene. Her breath sample showed that she was over the legal limit at the time of the collision. Hood was taken into custody under charges of vehicular homicide, second offense, obstruction of Justice, careless operation, no seat belt, and interfering with the duties of an officer

The wreck is under investigation.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of Makayla Gregoire at this time.
