Monroe, LA – Passenger Killed & Driver Injured On LA-15

Monroe, LA (July 21, 2019) – Lousiana State Police were at the scene of a fatal car accident around 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, July 21st. The crash took place on LA Hwy 15 south of Monroe. The passenger in the car lost her life in the incident.

The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Ashley Dixon, of Monroe.

Reports from authorities claim that the vehicle, a 2013 Ford Escape driven by 35-year-old Christopher Johnson, also from Monroe, was traveling northbound on LA-15.

The vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway for unknown reasons, struck an embankment, and became airborne. The tree came to a rest after striking a tree, which caused Dixon to be ejected from the vehicle. She was pronounced dead by responding paramedics at the scene.

Johnson also sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to a local medical facility.

It is unknown if intoxication was a factor in the crash at this time.

The cause of the accident is currently under investigation.

We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of Ashley Dixon. Our thoughts are also with Christopher Johnson and his family in hopes of a full recovery.
