New Orleans, LA (June 30, 2019) – A local news source confirmed that two people died and another sustained injuries during a lifeboat test at an oil rig on Sunday, June 30, 2019.

According to an updated report, crews on the oil rig (located 214 offshore in the Gulf of Mexico) had been conducting a routine lifeboat launch test around 9:00 AM that morning. Suddenly, for indeterminate reasons, a malfunction occurred.

Representatives from the company that owns the oil rig confirmed that two people died during the test, while a third person was transported to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Officials confirmed the accident did not negatively affect the environment.
