Plaquemine, LA – Fatal Pedestrian Collision On LA-1 South Of LA-75

Plaquemine, LA (August 3, 2019) – There was a fatal auto-pedestrian crash reported in Plaquemine in Iberville Parish on Friday, August 2nd. The incident took place at around 9:30 p.m. at LA Hwy 1 south of LA Hwy 75. 

The collision took the life of 36-year-old Dusty Rineheart of Plaquemine, Louisiana. 

Reports from the Louisiana State Police indicate that Rineheart was killed while walking across the southbound lanes of LA-1 after being struck by three vehicles.

While the victim was crossing the highway, a 2000 Buick Park Regal, a 2019 Kia Optima, and a 2017 Allegro Motorhome were traveling south on LA-1. While the victim was trying to cross the highway, he was hit by the Buick, as well as the Kia and Allegro. 

Rineheart sustained fatal injuries, and the Iberville Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead at the scene of the accident. 

The other involved parties were restrained and uninjured in the crash. It is not believed that intoxication was a factor.

The collision is currently under investigation.
