Pointe Coupee, LA – Two-Vehicle Accident Leads to Fatality on LA Highway 10

Pointe Coupee, LA (June 26, 2019) – Around 2:30 p.m. on June 22^nd, police responded to the scene of a two-vehicle accident that led to a fatality on LA Highway 10.

The person who lost their life was identified as 97-year-old Vivian Lejeune, of New Roads. An investigation by the Louisiana State Police showed that, at the time, 74-year-old Ralph Necaise was traveling westbound on the highway in a pickup truck. Lejeune was his front-seat passenger.

At that time, 34-year-old Brandon Barnes was traveling eastbound in his Dodge Ram. Necaise failed to yield at a left turn, which caused the two to collide with one another.

Lejeune was properly restrained but suffered serious injuries. She was instantly taken to the hospital and succumbed to her injuries while there. Necaise also suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Barnes suffered minor injuries.

At this time, the investigation into the circumstances of the accident is ongoing.
