August 7, 2019 Saint James, LA – Three-Car Accident On Louisiana 3127 Caused By Fatigued Driver Saint James, LA (August 7, 2019) – Police responded to the scene of a three-car accident on Louisiana 3127 in Saint James that led to serious injuries on August 7, 2019. The accident occurred when a vehicle pulled over to the side of the road in order to help an individual who was stranded due to mechanical issues with their vehicle. The two cars were on the side of the road when another vehicle passing them trying to move around them. The car was driving outside of the driving lanes and onto the right shoulder of the road. He struck the vehicle with the mechanical issues, pushing it completely off of the shoulder. He then struck the driver of the other vehicle who was pulled over assisting the disabled vehicle. A woman in the back of the disabled vehicle and the driver who stopped to help were killed in the collision. Five other people were taken to local area hospitals for treatment of the injuries they sustained. Police have stated that the driver who lost control of their vehicle and struck the other vehicle appeared to be driving fatigued, almost falling asleep. It is not suspected that any other impairment played a part in the collision. Toxicology tests were performed and the results are pending. The investigation continues at this time.
