UPDATE-Perkins Road Accident Victim Identified

A truck driver died Friday night when he got out of his cab on Perkins Road and was hit by a car, police said on Saturday.

 

Jianlin He, 55, 4026 Tuscan Shores Drive, Missouri City, Texas, was hit about 10 p.m. in the 8300 block of Perkins Road, Baton Rouge Police spokesman Cpl. L’Jean McKneely said.

 

He parked his 18-wheeler in the turning lane facing west on Perkins Road and got out of the truck cab in the eastbound lane of traffic, near Madeira Drive.

 

When He got out of his truck, a Mercury Grand Marque, driven by 82-year-old Willard Britt, slammed into him, McKneely said.

 

He, who was making a delivery in the area, was taken to a hospital where he died.

 

Britt, 1123 Westchester Drive, was not arrested. Alcohol is not suspected in the crash.
