Mississippi Man Killed In 18 Wheeler Accident

Louisiana State Police say a 47-year-old Mississippi man was killed when his pickup struck the rear of an 18-wheeler on Interstate 59.  The 18 wheeler accident is under investigation.

The accident happened north of Slidell around 9 p.m. Sunday.

Trooper Greg Marchand says an 18-wheeler rolled over a mattress on the highway. Marchand said the mattress struck the undercarriage of the truck and tore the airlines, fuel lines and electrical lines from under the vehicle.

As the truck and trailer remained stalled in the right northbound lane, Marchand said a pickup driven by Thomas Neumann of Carriere, Miss., struck the trailer. He says the pickup became engulfed in flames with Neumann still inside. Neumann was pronounced dead at the scene by the St. Tammany Parish Coroner’s Office.

Another horrific tragedy involving an 18 wheeler.  At a glance, it seems that this incident was not caused by the driver of the 18 wheeler.  But a more experienced and educated look may reveal otherwise.  At Fisher Injury Lawyers we have the knowledge, education, experience and resources to see things that others miss.  We are uniquely staffed to evaluate and successfully handle challenging cases with an in house engineer and an attorney/engineer.  To our trained eye, this is a tragedy that could have been avoided by the driver of the 18 wheeler.
